Hamptons estate goes on sale for £136 million; it has a ¼ mile of frontage to the Atlantic Ocean and is owned by financier Brenda Earl

 

A 20,000 square foot white brick house that forms the centerpiece of what is being termed “the most expensive Hamptons” listing has gone on sale for £136 million or 872% more than it sold for in 2002.

 

Built in 1960 and owned by Henry Ford II of the eponymous car making dynasty and then by his ex-wife, Anne McDonnell, until 1975, Fordune at 90 Jule Pond Drive in Southampton originally extended to some 235 acres. After passing into the hands of an Italian businessman named Carlo Traglio, it was sub-divided and then sold to Brenda Earl De Paola – a former partner in the long/short investment firm Zweig-Dimenna and the founder of the private investment house Earl Enterprises, LLC – in 2002.

  1. WTF?????????????? It looks very shoddily built!!!!!!!!!!!! Knock the bugger down!!!!!!!!!!! Build in steel and glass and make it suitable for someone MAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. “Very shoddily built”? Explain please, Rodders. Or more accurately, explain yourself, Rodders. All I see in terms of building stability is rock-solid brick with lots of less-secure glass, which perversely you favour so much.
    Robert Kay and JackTheLad have been added, if only metaphorically, to my Christmas card list for their perceptive comments.

  3. Not to sure if I would like to live there, what with global warming and higher sea levels etc. Also, with some of the interior decor, was the interior designer on LSD?
    Anyway, what would I know, not being a property professional and what not.

  4. As a property professional, I would argue this sum to staggeringly beyond realism. Something in the range of $65 million to $75 million is closer to what I’d say such a house is worth.
