Picture of the Week: Defending Scotland

What will become of Scotland’s ability to defend itself if it becomes independent of the rest of the UK?

Shared by Ahmed Khalil on Facebook, our Picture of the Week mocks up what might happen to Scotland’s ability to defend itself if the ‘yes’ camp secure a win on Thursday 18th September.

The future of Scottish defence?
The future of Scottish defence?

In the image montage, Alex Salmond is pictured with a bow and arrow whilst a soldier is seen being towed by a tricycle and a pilot and two fake naval employees are photographed posing in cardboard models of a plane and a boat. The feature, which was originally posted by Elizabeth Turner, is captioned: “Alex Salmond reveals the defense strategy for an independent Scotland”.

In all seriousness, independence could be disastrous in terms of how Scotland would defend itself. Over 1,000 people have already commented on a Guardian article about such and the most amusing reads: “Who’s going to defend Scotland? Call in The Krankies”.
