DYNASTIES AND GRANDEES

The houses of power

Charles Cadogan, The Rt. Hon. the 8th Earl Cadogan, KBE, DL

Charles Cadogn Earl CadognThis thrice married aristocrat and landowner allegedly once said that he prefers the company of horses to people. After dining in a Sloane Square restaurant that served food that wasn’t to his liking, Earl Cadogan – a first cousin of the Aga Khan – revoked their lease in 2010 and also tried to give his second wife a property named the Witch’s Cottage when they divorced. Worth around £3 billion, this Old Etonian went to court in 2002 in support of the defence of the provision of housing for the working classes on his Chelsea estate. A man who doesn’t mince his words.

  1. Jennifer Lady Chelsea (the 2nd wife) has since found happiness as Mrs Alan Taylor.Jenny & her 2nd husband have immigrated to the USA with Jenny’s horses & dogs and have built an amazing new home in sth Carolina.

  2. Fascinating….wasn’t Jenny the one that Ali G took etiquette lessons from? Quite hilarious….
I had no idea Lord C had Pakistani relations.
He is now planning to destroy the beautiful Chelsea Curzon cinema…..pure greed.

    1. Miss Chase….do you never stop promoting yourself? To compare your amusement value to that of Ali G is just a little incredible

  3. They don’t shoot horses, do they? I have lost a fortune on the four legged bastards. The Earl has had better luck wagering on them, in the words of the late Terry-Thomas “hard cheese” to me. He looks like a horse, no doubt he is bloody greedy. He had three wives, he is probably hung like a horse too. Save the Chelsea Curzon cinema.

  4. The Rt.Hon. Charles Cadogan – After dining at a Sloane Square restaurant that served food that wasn’t to his liking, Earl Cadogan, revoked their lease. This incident occurred in 2010 & made newspaper headlines, meanwhile a short time later in 2010, a hotel on the opposite side of Sloane Street, No 11 Cadogan Gardens, was burning to the ground. No 11 Cadogan Gardens is part of the Cadogan Estates property portfolio, & is currently in a dilapidated state, brought about by years of underinvestment.

Move on up the road on Sloane Street & you will pass Durley House, another dilapidated property in the Cadogan Estate portfolio, & presently closed down. Further on there is The Cadogan Hotel, this hotel like No 11 Cadogan Gardens, is also in a dilapidated condition, again brought about by lack of investment over the years.

The Rt.Hon Charles Cadogan is worth in excess of £6 billion, however his property company Cadogan Estates seem to be unable to manage a number of properties that fall short in areas of safety & thus pose a serious threat to the public. We have already experienced a serious incident involving a building of the same age as the above mentioned properties, & I refer to the ceiling collapse of the Apollo Theatre, which resulted in 80 casualties. The Rt. Hon Charles Cadogan should ensure that his properties are maintained & if not should be closed down so as to ensure the public are kept safe.

  5. You may be right: you may be wrong, but the old bugger his correct title.
Is the Cadogan Hotel is such a poor state?
