Stinson Hunter

With over 66,000 followers on Twitter, Stinson Hunter is a self-styled online crime fighter.Best known for having appeared on the Channel 4 documentary The Paedophile Hunter in October 2014, Hunter was expelled from three schools and jailed for arson as a child. A subsequent university dropout, made his first “sting” on a suspected paedophile in 2008 and properly began his operation to catch such individuals in 2012. Of his activities, he once commented: “It started with a profile on a dating site and a guy contacted us, telling us he was a 47-year-old mental health nurse. We got him in a Birmingham hotel under the pretense of a 14-year-old virgin and we videoed it. We wanted to raise awareness for public safety on Facebook so we put it up online and have done it ever since, honing our technique”. Though some think him irresponsible, Hunter – who seeks neither fame nor fortune from what he does – has been lauded for “succeed[ing] in warning parents of the perils of social networking and the monsters that lurk behind keyboards in the UK”.

    1. I can clear up these myths for you Rod! The police ARE actively hunting online for paedophiles. They can’t do them all at the same time and we don’t get to hear about them all.

The police only don’t like Stinson because laymen involving themselves in any activity that needs delicate handling can very easily ruin criminal cases and have done so many times in the past.

  1. Well said Rod. The police in this country are incompetent. Theresa May would rather we just report crime via the Internet. It’s getting beyond hopeless.

    1. Our police aren’t incompetent. If the government butted out, the EU butted out and the Crown Prosecution sorted out their act, the police would be allowed to excel. It’s what the majority of the police want, a free reign to be able to do what they joined the force to do.

      1. My personal experience is quite to the contrary. I reported a crime in the manner Theresa May suggested three weeks ago – i.e. via the Internet – and have yet to receive a reply. There are virtually no police stations left in K&C and victims get no priority. Stinson Hunter is a reaction to this and though not a perfect one, I can see why he is supported.

        1. Personally I’d call 111 and get them to come to you. Theresa May has been really bad for the police. It’s not the police who are incompetent, it’s what Teresa May has done to them that has caused the current situation. I feel very sorry for the police. It’s a horrible job to do, they risk their lives every time they clock on for work. Thousands of them are attacked every year and nobody should have to endure that when they turn up for work. I seriously wish people should stop slagging off the police. Each one of them is someone’s daughter or son, brother or sister, husband or wife or mum or dad. All the police I know joined the force to make things better, not to be lumped in as a useless, incompetent, bent etc because the funding has been minimalised. They put their lives on the line for us and we talk about them like pieces of shit. It’s the height of stupidity.

  2. Well done Stinson! These creeps need to be dealt with and the police cannot be everywhere. It’s a shame he doesn’t get more recognition.
