Justice and Janner

Section:

Matthew Steeples suggests a report into allegations against the late Lord Janner provides proof of a cover-up at the highest level

Keith Vaz MP has been strangely quiet of late. This one-time friend and supporter of the late Lord Janner has failed to comment on a report published yesterday that revealed that the paedophile peer should have been prosecuted in 1991, 2002 and 2007.

Lord Janner will forever now be remembered as a vile paedophile
Lord Janner will forever now rightly be remembered as a vile paedophile

An independent inquiry by retired High Court judge Sir Richard Henriques has found that the Labour peer, who died in December 2015, escaped prosecution on three occasions in twenty years despite credible evidence he abused children in care numerous occasions.

In his report, Sir Richard slammed the CPS and police officers for failing to pursue Janner at the time and found that officers failed to pass on evidence and underminded his victims. Specifically, he remarked:

“I am satisfied that, in 1991, there was a sufficiency of evidence for a prosecution to be commenced against Janner for offences of indecent assault and buggery”.

“The police investigation was incomplete and inadequate in 1991 and police officers failed to carry out enquiries advised by the CPS”.

“I have concluded that the decision not to charge Janner in 1991 was wrong and that there was enough evidence against Janner, on 4th December 1991, to provide a realistic prospect of conviction”.

Commenting in reply, Director of Public Prosecutions Alison Saunders added:

“The inquiry’s findings that mistakes were made confirms my view that failings in the past by prosecutors and police meant that proceedings were not brought”.

“It is a matter of sincere regret that on three occasions, opportunities to put the allegations against Lord Janner before a jury were not taken”.

“It is important that we understand the steps which led to these decisions not to prosecute, and ensure that no such mistakes can be made again”.

Shame on the establishment and shame on Keith Vaz in particular. May such a cover-up never be allowed to occur again.

    1. The law strikes with fury and lightning speed against officers adminstering illegal restraints at a Youth Secure Centre in Meway Kent.. It is a travesty……..

    2. He’s burning in hell with Jimmy Savile and Cyril Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, the victims should pursue his family and cash in on that fat estate of his!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    3. I have seen with my own eyes how cover ups are carried out. Police moved sideways, paperwork lost, confusion created. I have been there myself on a child abuse case where the victim was victimised and the whole debacle turned into a nightmare. The poor children left to suffer and grow up with the abuse, no chance for justice and their adult lives in ruins. The U.K. Govt and judiciary is not what the world thinks regarding a good Govt and justice system. No child is protected in that hell hole of a country. Strong words but I can talk sincerely from experience!

    4. The Police officers concerned should be brought to justice. They won’t be of course because the people in high places who ordered them not to pass the evidence over at the time will still be in power or close enough to those who are to protect themselves. The disgusting scumbag Savile was right when he gloated that he would never be prosecuted because if anyone tried to touch him he would bring half the establishment down with him. What the hell is it about politicians and paedophile perversion?

    5. Sickening, saddening and utterly infuriating. This is one of those times when it is a comfort to be a believer in eternal damnation………..

    6. The decay of the British society, especially the elite’s value systems and standards have reached rancid proportions. They must realise how this presents to the general public, the spin doctors are running out of soundbites to try and play it down. The mistakes have been made ‘soundbite’ has no effect anymore.

    7. The British public will one day demand justice for the abused & murdered children by these evil aristocrat’s! Just give them time to wake up and smell the coffee. And then the shit will really hit the fan.

    8. They cleverly abuse euphemism to hide the harsh term cover-up and substitute it for a more pleasant word such as mistake. The gullible British public will buy into it, we all make mistakes, however, it is criminal to make deliberate mistakes to prevent the cause of justice.

    9. It is course of justice, sorry, I got carried away dreaming of laying a brick in that Million Pound lavatory. I will leave it to the rich to stink it out.

    10. We are still awaiting justice for Madeleine Mcann, and we believe Gordon Brown and ambassadors et al have conspired to get this **** pair off the hook. We believe Operation Grange is an expensive establishment cover up which will produce zero results. The Find Madeleine Fund is a ********* to which the generous public have donated money, thinking it’s a charity when it was a Limited Company, which served to place the almost penniless McCanns into a local rich list. They used their Limited company to [allegedly] pay off their mortgage, build an extension and feather their nests. They attack Goncalo Amarales, the brilliant Portuguese detective who [claims] Madeleine was not abducted and firmly knows the parents are responsible. Why is all this being covered up when the lies told are obvious?

      [EDITED FOR LEGAL REASONS]

    11. Good God, how did we end up with the McCann’s discussion, I am better off and safer spending the night in the shit house reading the Daily Mail for entertainment. I thought we were discussing good old Lord Faukenroy.

    12. It is beyond satire, a disgrace, the consequences of morally debased and permissive consecutive Tory and Labour governments. I will vote UKIP out of spite in the next general election.
