‘The Steeple Times’ analyses the top picks for today’s Ayr Gold Cup Handicap and opts for a tidy priced 28/1 option
Yesterday’s each way pick for our daily racing email Dandy’s Beano at 28/1 came in third at a very good 40/1. We hope that all that follow got a good return on that!
Today, there are two each way options that look interesting in the Ayr Gold Cup. We didn’t pick the 2019 winner Angel Alexander, but this time suggest:
EACH WAY – 3.40pm Ayr (24 runners, 1/5):
6f QTS Ayr Gold Cup Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+)
- Oisin Murphy – Andrew Balding combo Stone of Destiny at 7/1 (Daily Telegraph, At The Races)
At the Races remark: “Stone of Destiny landed a competitive renewal of the Portland with a bit to spare and can strike once again to give Andrew Balding his third Ayr Gold Cup.”
Templegate for The Sun adds: “Stone Of Destiny was impressive in winning the Portland Handicap at Donny last week and should be right there again from what still looks a handy mark.
- Young Fire at 28/1 (Guardian)
Chris Cook of the Guardian says: “Young Fire makes each-way appeal at 20-1 or so.”
Robin Goodfellow for the Daily Mail adds: “Young Fire (two wins from four with Shane Gray aboard) also appeals at a tidy price.”
Templegate for The Sun remarks: “Could be the pick of the big prices after a convincing success at Haydock earlier this month.”
Racing Post adds: “In top form when winning with authority at Haydock (7f, soft); first attempt at 6f.”
