Branson Falls Off The Roof

Section:

Sir Richard Branson closes The Roof Gardens in Kensington; customers take to social media to complain about lack of assistance over cancelled bookings

Sir Richard Branson can now add “job killer” and “wedding wrecker” to his resume. In closing the once popular venue The Roof Gardens, this tawdry fantasist not only put 80 people out of work but also destroyed the plans of those who’d made bookings for events there.

In the wake of the closure individuals who’d booked the venue took to Twitter to complain. One, Nick Levine, tweeted:

“Closing Kensington Roof Gardens has cancelled my summer 2018 wedding. Trying to contact you to but getting a wall of silence. Please assist and do not ignore if you care. Flights and hotels booked. Why did you take wedding bookings if u could not honour?”

Another, Tracey Andrews, added:

“Richard Branson is selling the Kensington Roof Gardens because it’s failing to make profit putting 80 staff out if work. He wants our NHS because clearly there is profit to be made. He’s the greedy farmer wanting more. Well guess what @richardbranson He died.”

Going further, Michelle Johnstone, concluded:

“The party’s over! Kensington Roof Gardens CLOSES after 37 years. I’ve even visited myself – it’s no big loss, an average bar miles from anywhere shit views & a couple of shrubs passed off as amazing – he can now put more effort into destroying the NHS.”

Branson – whose legacy will also include a disastrous train crash and the death of one of the pilots of his ludicrous spacecraft – is a man of straw. He is anything but the success many perceive him to be and is, in fact, nothing but a national disgrace.

  1. Dickhead Branson should keep his hands off the birdies and send them Down Under!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll have a Castlemaine with them and show them a real fun time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pwoah that one in the picture is a hottie!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yum, yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Spot on — He calls himself an “entrepreneur” but in doing so he just makes himself a “showman” — Real entrepreneurs let others call them such.

  3. I like him and think this article is unfair. Not his fault that the economy has changed and not his fault that the place wasn’t making money. He has to think of his family and protect his fortune. Better that he cut off the loss and saved his children’s inheritance. The people can go find other venues and other jobs.

    • Branson has a track record of ducking and diving going back to when he was caught tax dodging in his early 20s. It is not surprising that he is closing down the Kensington Roof Gardens and wriggling out of the franchise to operate rail services as he shelters his money in offshore tax havens whilst pontificating to the British public that Brexit was the wrong decision.

  4. What a nasty thing to do to start the new year. Poor workers penniless whilst Branson no doubt sits on his private island — but maybe not since ha ha it got destroyed by that hurricane. There’s karma Dicky!

  5. As a property professional, I’d suggest Branson has another plan. It likely won’t get planning permission but I was told there may be a plan to redevelop the space for luxury apartments.

  6. Couldn’t be more delighted! Awful place, dreadful staff, and terrible management. How they stayed in business this long is beyond me. Resting on their laurels and trading on the Virgin name I expect. “Miles from anywhere” and “shit views” doesn’t even begin to describe how appalling this tired and dated dinosaur was. Tear it down I say, and not a moment too soon!

  7. Well Branson is a business man, all he ever looks at is, can this make a profit, and acts accordingly. This joint obviously wasn’t, so that’s it. I do agree with Felix, he is definitely a bit of perv, and has probably pinched a few bottoms over the years. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we have a few ladies come forward, in the near future, with accusations of inappropriate behaviour dating back to the 70s and 80s. Anyway, love him or hate him, he has created a lot of jobs over the years, and without entrepreneurial types like him, where would we be?
