As disgraced ‘casino banker’ Jes Staley gets sued by J. P. Morgan, Matthew Steeples calls for other noxious names linked to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to also face justice
Father of two James Edward Staley (AKA ‘Jes Staley’) is facing further woes in the wake of the death of the friend he once wanted to give a “heartfelt hug,” the late paedophile Ponzi schemer Jeffrey Epstein.
Yesterday, with news shared by Anna Wise in Independent.ie, that his former employers, the New York based bankers J. P. Morgan, “wants “to hold Mr Staley personally liable for any financial penalties that J. P. Morgan may have to pay in two related cases,” came further woes for a man exposed as somewhat sinister after revelations about his bizarre ‘Snow White’ referencing emails to his croaked chum emerged in February.
Of the latest development, Wise observed:
“It also wants to force Mr Staley to repay wages that he earned during the time he was allegedly aware of the abuse and repeatedly ‘personally observed’ Epstein’s behaviour.”
“‘In light of Staley’s intentional and outrageous conduct in failing to disclose pertinent information and abandoning (J. P. Morgan’s) interests in favour of his own and Epstein’s personal interests, (the bank) is entitled to punitive damages,’ J. P. Morgan said in its lawsuit. A lawyer for Mr Staley had no comment.”
“J. P. Morgan’s case was filed after the bank was sued by the government of the US Virgin Islands, as well as by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who was allegedly abused by Epstein.”
“Previous lawsuits have shown Mr Staley and Epstein exchanged hundreds of emails and text messages over the years, and they were seen to have a close relationship that went beyond the professional relationship a banker would have with a wealthy client.”
“The bank continues to deny the allegations in its lawsuit but appears to allege Mr Staley may have committed sexual assault.”
“It notes in its lawsuit that the anonymous Ms Doe described a ‘powerful financial executive’ who could ‘use his clout within JPMorgan to make Epstein untouchable.’”
“Mr Staley left J. P. Morgan in 2013 to become CEO of London-based bank Barclays.”
“He resigned last year after a report by British regulators into his past links with Epstein.”
Going further, in a statement to The Guardian’s banking correspondent Kalyeena Makortoff, J. P. Morgan additionally added:
“While the conduct Epstein was accused of is despicable, the lawsuits against JPMC are misplaced and without merit. The plaintiffs have made troubling allegations concerning the conduct of our former employee Jes Staley, and if true he should be held responsible for his actions.”
“At the time, we could not have imagined any of our employees would engage in the type of conduct alleged. We expect all of our employees at every level of the firm to act with honesty and integrity. If these allegations against Staley are true, he violated this duty by putting his own personal interests ahead of the company’s.”
Now, again today, I remind readers of a key fact in this matter: Why haven’t those that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell sex trafficked to yet to face justice? The clock is still ticking and there is still time for the many other powerful, pugnacious people linked to this sordid story to be brought to justice.
