Gina Miller targeted by trolls and subjected to death threats simply for attempting to prove a point of law on Brexit
Like or loathe Brexit, one should respect the right of others to opinions contrary to one’s own. In Britain, it seems, this is no longer the case and yesterday’s reaction to Gina Miller’s High Court challenge to how Article 50 should be invoked proves just such.
Mrs Miller, a financier, campaigner and philanthropist, has previously stated that her business has been boycotted and that she has received death threats but after yesterday’s hearing, it was the reaction of Twitter users that truly surprised and shocked.
Simply for taking a stance and boldly putting her head above the parapet, some described Mrs Miller as “an immigrant who doesn’t believe in democracy” and someone “pushing for a civil war”. Another went as far as to demand: “Deport her”.
