Banish HGVs

Section:

Matthew Steeples suggests HGV trucks should not be allowed on London’s roads during the hours of daylight

Trucks are undoubtedly necessary to transport goods in London but with eight cyclists killed already this year on the city’s roads, it is time Sadiq Khan took action to reduce accidents such as that occurred in Knightsbridge on Monday.

It’s quite simple: Trucks should be allowed on the roads during limited hours in Central London. Deliveries by HGVs could be confined to a specific period of say 1am to 6am and then the city would be a much safer place during the hours of daylight.

  1. What a stupid proposal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let business get on with its business!!!!!!!!!!!! Ban cyclists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Rod, no one expects too much sense from some low class Australian from some slum suburb of Melbourne and with a face like a backside, however you know nothing of London, nor I doubt, have ever visited our city. Keep your dumb opinions to yourself. You really are a ugly cretin

  2. Matthew….well said. Equally, any lorry coming in should be forced to picked up a spotter who, seated as a passenger, would be the driver’s second pair of eyes.
Sadly, these tragedies seem to be centred on young foreigners who are unused to the ever increasingly brutal London driving.

  3. I think that’s a good idea Matthew you have put forward. 1am until 6am for HGV deliveries in London would make it far safer for cyclists in the daylight hours. That would mean they would not be forced to jostle for position on busy roads for space. I like your idea.
