How does this end?

How does this end? The government needs a new approach to Brexit – Matthew Steeples foresees a need for the government to accept that their Brexit strategy is simply not working and change tact.

Matthew Steeples foresees a need for the government to accept that their Brexit strategy is simply not working and change tact; news that Porsche will introduce a surcharge of 10% is proof of how bad a situation we are now in

“How does this end?” sensibly asked Alison McGovern MP after the government’s defeat on Brexit this week.

She was right to ask such a question and with the EU’s chief negotiator, Michael Barnier, stating that Theresa May has “failed” whilst achieving the impossible of uniting Kenneth Clarke and Jacob Rees-Mogg, it is now time for a change of tack.

Mrs May, as Rees-Mogg pointed out some time ago, is on a merry-go-round. It goes round and round but nothing changes. She blabbers on about her deal being “the only deal” in spite of no one else wanting it and meanwhile businesses quit our shores.

News that Porsche have asked British customers to commit to a contract committing them to a 10% surcharge if there is a no-deal Brexit further illustrates what a disaster we are now facing. We need solutions, not problems from our Prime Minister and we need them now.
