Emily Thornberry is totally unsuitable as Shadow Defence Secretary suggests Matthew Steeples
This week Jeremy Corbyn, quite possibly the worst Leader of the Opposition ever, appointed quite possibly the worst ever Shadow Defence Secretary ever.
In choosing Emily Thornberry (AKA Lady Nugee) – a woman who patronisingly announced: “‘I actually have quite a lot more experience than people think I do – Corbyn did the predictable and shoved two fingers up at his critics but he also did the unacceptable and appointed a woman who not only is anti-Trident but also the recipient of a donation of £50,000 from Leigh Day, a law firm currently under investigation over its handling of claims against British soldiers who fought in Iraq.
In an attempt to justify her position, Thornberry, the Member for Islington South and Finsbury, continued by stating: “I don’t think being against nuclear weapons is that zany”. She then pointed out that she’d once been appointed an honorary lieutenant colonel while working as a barrister on courts-martial yet neglected to mention she’d also been forced to resign from a previous position due to sneering at an image of the flag of St George.
With her at the helm, all we would get is a might fine mess. In the unlikely event that happened, all one could say would be: “God help the Labour Party, God help the military and God help Britain”.
