Matthew Steeples calls upon Theresa May to take allegations of abuse more seriously in the wake of further accusations against Sir Cliff Richard
On a day when reports regarding the monstrous activities of the late Jimmy Savile are published, the Mail Online chose to use the title “Cliff’s agony as police probe new claims of sex abuse” as the header for an article about the latest allegations against Sir Cliff Richard. In doing so, the newspaper yet again piles more misery against this Christian popstar’s alleged victims and illustrates that the ‘club’ of 1970s entertainers still has the power to potentially pervert justice.
Sir Cliff Richard, as we have repeatedly stated, may be entirely innocent but given serious allegations have been made by more than one party, they ought to be dealt with appropriately.
In particular, suggestions that Sir Cliff was a guest at the Elm Guest House – which have widely circulated on the Internet – need to be examined. Former Home Secretary Leon Brittan, another alleged attendee at that establishment, died prior to his having been properly questioned about what went on there and though another politician and sexual predator, the late Sir Cyril Smith, was also revealed to have visited, it does seem that those in power in Britain would simply prefer that what went on at this tawdry premises not be looked into.
Having seen numerous lists of elite individuals connected to the Elm Guest House and other shocking instances of alleged abuse, today, I again call upon Theresa May to finally take this matter a little more seriously.
