The Arab Arrival

As Knightsbridge’s Brompton Road is invaded by Arabs, The Steeple Times finds that there is both good and bad in their number

Last night, it was a party of two halves on Knightsbridge’s Brompton Road.

At one end, close to the Caramel restaurant, a gaggle of vulgar Chanel handbag wielding Arab women (pictured top right) showed their low class ways when approached by an Englishwoman who simply asked them to let her pass. One remarked: “We have more money than you and we do what we want, whenever we want. You walk in the road. This pavement is our space.”

Elsewhere, closer to the Brompton Road hoards of young Saudis and Kuwaitis gathered on the pavements. Asked why they were there, two Qatari men (pictured top left) politely explained that they would actually like to integrate with locals. They claimed they didn’t know where to find such but apologised profusely for others in their number blocking the streets.

As is often the case, here was illustration that generalisations are never fair. There is good and bad in every part of society and we would all do well to remember that.

  1. It is a shame that they only spend money in shisha bars and on designer labels. Local shops and restaurants do not benefit and that’s why we’ve lost so many great establishments.

  2. I can say as someone who lives just round the corner from where you took your pictures, this situation has become intolerable. My wife cannot even sleep at night because of the noise they make. These people should be moved on. Now!

  3. I think the answer is simple the women who said that new money and it shows the others old money new money crass …as they say money talks….but wealth whispers!!!

  4. I unfortunately live in Knightsbridge, close to harrods , the area has become a satellite city for Emirates , Saudis , and the rest , anyone else feels alienated and pushed out , they have invaded everywhere , yes , some are polite and well behaved , usually the men more than the women, but most are loud , chain smoking , idly wallowing around in groups of more than three taking up all pavement .. Same in Hyde park that has become their playground , fortunately they emerge around noon . I am moving out of Knightsbridge the soonest possible

  5. It breaks my heart to see what has become of London, I grew up and still live in SW7 the summers have become intolerable due to this invasion. My sister and her family live within spitting distance of Harrods and are now selling up to move as it has become so horrendous

  6. Iranians were quite civilized compared to this.
It’s bizarre Islamic fundamentalist dictatorships that sponsor Isis, and provided the majority of 9 /11 bombers are vip’s and vulgar primitive etc
