Arfi Lamba: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times asks actor and producer Arfi Lamba: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

I listen to my gut.

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

“This too shall pass”.

Kerry Katona was considered unacceptable in 2007. Who or what is unacceptable in 2013?

Justin Bieber.

Tony Blair misses being Prime Minister. What do you miss most in your life?

Nothing actually. I am in such a good state that I am very happy. Whatever has gone has gone.

What might you swap all your wealth for?

I love wealth but I’m sure at a point in time I will realise that it will mean nothing. That spiritual point is what I’d swap it all for.

Donald Trump was once a case of: “If you owe the bank a thousand, they close you down; but if you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank”. What’s your view on the banking crisis?

It’s a big mess and everybody is involved.

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

“Sorry I’m late”.

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

Charity most definitely begins at home but so does love. I personally support the cause of education in India and those affected by war.

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

They are becoming a nuisance and have taken over too many peoples’ lives. I always keep it on silent. Things can wait.

If you could fill a carriage on The Orient Express, who would be your fellow passengers?

Maila Kunis, Jennifer Lawrence, Shah Rukh Khan, Zac Snieder and Pina Bausch. I’d also love to have Leonardo DiCaprio and Audrey Hepburn and as I’m a major Bollywood fan I’d have Madhuri Dixit.

If you were unfortunate enough to end up on death row, what would be your last meal and where would you eat it?

On top of the Eiffel Tower. Indian chicken masala.

What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

11 o’clock in the morning.

A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

A martini.

Whose parties do you enjoy the most and why?

I enjoy my own as I enjoy being a host, playing good music and getting everyone to connect.

Who is the most positive person you know?

I have yet to come across anyone who is as hopelessly optimistic as myself.

What’s your most guilty pleasure?

Sex.

If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

It has to be an eagle, high and alone. I like my own company.

If you were a car, what marque would you be?

A Rolls-Royce because they’re gorgeous and not everyone can have one. However, I’d rather be a motorbike because I much prefer to be out in the open and feel the speed. A bike can go where a car can’t.

Cilla Black presented Surprise, Surprise. Tell us the most surprising thing about you.

I am a Devil in sheep’s clothing.

What’s currently sitting on your mantelpiece?

A photograph of my father as he’s let me live the way I should unlike most Indian parents. He’s very European in his attitude. I’ve also got a fake Oscar trophy there too.
