Halpern gets a little more CHI

WPP backed CHI&Partners acquires stake in Halpern

The world of public relations can be fickle and few who work in it command the level of respect that Jenny Halpern Prince has built up since she founded Halpern on her kitchen table in 1992. Today, in an email newsletter, it was announced that a stake in her agency had been acquired by CHI&Partners, a company backed by Sir Martin Sorrell’s WPP.

Halpern Prince – the daughter of Sir Ralph Halpern, who resurrected Burton and founded Topshop, and the wife of a Canadian property executive – describes herself as a “gatekeeper and fixer” on Twitter. Her Kings Road based company specialises in retail and lifestyle PR and in a recent interview with Gorkana she stated: “Basically I help brands to meet industry leaders, whether it’s editors or someone else who would enhance their business”.

Halpern’s clients have variously numbered Andrew Martin, Gant, Rangemaster, Tiffany and Joanna Wood. Now, by integrating with the CHI network – which includes an advertising agency, a media buying agency and a direct marketing agency – Halpern plans to grow to be “truly global”.

CHI is an acronym for “life, force, energy”. It’s surely something that this partnership will have in leaps and bounds.
