Classic clangers from the last week
Bussing a holiday
On a bus on Kensington High Street, a student was overheard to remark to her boyfriend: “I want a chalet in the South of France”. A well-heeled local chipped in: “No, darling, you mean a villa. You’ll be wanting a chalet in Zermatt though too”.
Smashing the Bellini
New Yorker and founder of The Native Society Oliver Estreich shared his view of the expensive Bellinis served at Cipriani on Instagram. Alongside an image of a broken glass on a Cipriani napkin, he commented: “This is what I think of your overpriced Bellinis #zerofucksgiven #cipriani #anotherdayanotherdollar”.
Sobering up
Drinks historian Jared Brown remarked on Facebook: “Sober bartenders are like skinny chefs”. He certainly has a point.
Named for the net
At Aubaine in South Kensington two American ladies sat chatting whilst their young children sat playing on iPads. The first commented: “I think it is great that Ambrose is getting with the tech gen”. The second answered: “Harry and I planned ahead. We gave Lysander the middle name ‘Instagram’. It’s set him up for life”.
