RM Auctions offer a Toyota for a million dollars
Toyota is not a firm that one generally associates with sports cars and luxury, but with the sale of a 1967 Toyota 2000GT at an expected price of $1,000,000 (£625,000), we’ve definitely found an exception.
Considered to be “Japan’s first supercar” and described by Road & Track magazine as “one of the most exciting and enjoyable cars we’ve driven”, only 337 of the cars were produced and because of their scarcity prices of upto $1,200,000 (£750,000) have been achieved for them.
The example on offer, unlike the custom made open top model used in You Only Live Twice, comes as a hardtop in red and features a stylish wooden dash. It can reach 135 mph and was designed by Satoru Nozaki.
RM Auctions in association with Sotheby’s offer the car – chassis MF10-10093 – without reserve in their 21st November Art of the Automobile sale in Manhattan.
