Oprah Winfrey to sell off contents of her Californian mansion
As Oprah Winfrey prepares to turn 60 she’s decided to refresh the décor at her $82 million Californian estate. As a result, the contents of this mansion along with items from her other homes are to be auctioned at the Santa Barbara Polo Club on 2nd November.
The sale – which is being conducted by Beverly Hills based Kaminski Auctions – includes upholstered furniture by George Smith, European antiques and carpets and rugs. Of why she’s selling the items, Ms Winfrey commented:
“I am evolving [and] my taste is too… The gilded mirrors, marble urns, the lavish carpets and sherbet palette – it was all very grand, but it wasn’t very true to myself… The thing that had been missing from all the beautiful places I’d ever lived in, was me!”
Items will be available to view from 30th October to 1st November whilst catalogues are available for $50. Funds raised will benefit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation.
