Donning The Enterprise

Donning The Enterprise – Former home of ‘Don who was Donna at night’ for sale – Walton Street, London, SW3 – £3 million

Former home of ‘Don who’s Donna at night’ for sale for £3 million – in spite of the fact it needs renovation

‘Don who’s Donna at night’ was a notorious character of Chelsea during the early 2000s. By day, he operated as a plumber and handyman and drank coffee in The Admiral Codrington; by night he returned to the same haunt as his alter-ego ‘Donna’ and ‘befriended’ women with tales about how he’d lost his keys. Now, his former home – next to The Enterprise in Walton Street – is for sale for £3 million, in spite of the fact it needs to be completely renovated.

Offered for sale by Savills, the 1,476 square foot terraced house controversially has planning permission to extend to 2,201 square foot in spite of very public opposition from its neighbours. Currently the only bathroom is located on the ground floor but should a purchaser execute the designs proposed, what is currently a four bedroom house will become three and it will instead also have three bathrooms.

Of what has become of ‘Don’ little is known, but as one former barman at The Admiral Codrington commented: “He will always be remembered as a true eccentric Brit”.
