“High-classic utility” Rolls-Royce heads to auction with a lower guide of £46,000

 

Whilst many in the media rave about Bentley’s forthcoming bizarrely named Bentayga – a “super-luxury SUV” that looks like a VW Touareg on acid – a much more classy shooting brake heads to auction in October with a guide of £46,000 to £59,000 ($70,000 to $90,000).

The car, which auctioneers RM Sotheby’s term a “Rolls-Royce for the hunt”, is a 1929 Rolls-Royce 20HP that had coachwork by prominent hearse manufacturers Alpe & Saunders added in the 1950s. The 327-centimetre wheelbase, four-speed manual transmission car is striking and features wooden panelling and a red leather interior.

 

This “high-class utility vehicle” will be sold at the RM Sotheby’s Hershey sale on Thursday 8th October 2015. We’d take it over the £160,000 ($245,000) Bentayga anyday.

 

Update: 10th October 2015: The Rolls-Royce sold for £43,000 ($66,000, €58,000).
