An introduction to an art dealer with a difference; meet Nicholas Campbell of Narcissus Arts
Nicholas Campbell of Narcissus Arts is a contemporary art dealer with a difference. Aside from being soave and sophisticatedly dressed, this bon viveur only champions works under £10,000 and is unique in that regard in the UK.
Also an ambassador for the renowned Frieze fair and the founder of another firm that has supplied corporations, hotels and restaurants including Daphne’s, Sartoria and Smith & Wollensky on art acquisitions, Stowe educated Campbell spoke with The Steeple Times recently. He enthused about his passion for his craft and tellingly commented:
“I’m sick and tired of people going to such things as the Affordable Art Fair and then meeting me and saying: ‘I wish I’d known about you before I bought…’ I do believe there is ample opportunity to buy good work for reasonable figures and that’s what I aim to share with those I advise”.
Campbell’s clients range from financiers and fund managers to models and fashion designers and here below he describes three of his favourite works he currently has on offer and why he likes them.
- My first selection is a photograph titled Private Moon by Leonid Tishkov. A popular artist, especially amongst the romantics out there. A little bit of fun for Christmas time.
- I came across a new painter named Caroline Larsen on a recent trip to New York. Her psychedelic landscapes have an almost woven effect to them, and her work has proven very popular with collectors of emerging painters.
- My favourite sculpture choice comes in the form of this new stunning marble work by the very exciting, London based artist, George Henry Longly. I love his style.

Thanks, Matthew, so pleased to learn about him and the art he sells. Incidentally, if his photo is a realistic representation, he can make my cocoa any time….
