The sale of Michael Winner’s Rolls-Royce Corniche III
“Calm down dear… It’s only a Rolls-Royce” might have been what the late Michael Winner stated when he took delivery of one of many Rolls-Royce’s he owned during his lifetime. Now, one of them, a black 1992 Rolls-Royce Corniche III convertible is for sale at a price of £69,950.
Winner purchased the car in 2008 to celebrate “getting himself £6 million into debt” and was renowned for driving it in bus lanes to speed up his journey as well as parking it illegally. He described the fines he received as “wonderful value” and once stated:
“The difference is I don’t have to walk around in the rain looking for taxis. I just leave the restaurant and step straight back into my car”.
The 6.8 litre V8 engine car has 26,000 miles on the clock and is presented in immaculate condition. Its specification includes dual level air conditioning, cruise control, lambswool over rugs and burr walnut cappings with cross banded edging. The original toolkit comes complete with unusued factory supplied white gloves.
Dealer Derek Mowat, who is selling the convertible, told SWNS.com:
“He looked after the car very well, it has been cherished. It is a Corniche III so you have all the modern gear but with the classic design. This is a particularly nice example of the stunning and luxurious flagship convertible. There are three for sale in the UK and this model has the lowest mileage, the best colour scheme and it used to be owned by Sir [sic] Michael Winner. This pricing makes it a very attractive investment and would be perfectly suited to collector. It is a modern classic”.
The ex-Michael Winner Rolls-Royce Corniche III is for sale through Derek C. Mowat in Edinburgh. Telephone: +44 (0) 131 467 0967.
