Squalor in South Ken

The worst property particulars ever?

Estate agents often use clever photography to promote properties and urge sellers to tidy up and brew hot coffee before viewings. The brochure for a one bedroom flat in Stanhope Gardens in London’s South Kensington, however, is an example where an agent has done anything but.

The exterior is scruffy but tells little as to how bad the flat is inside
Hamptons could have asked that the kitchen was cleaned before sending in their photographer; they didn’t
In the sitting room the photographer has chosen to focus on a discarded shoe
A dirty bed sheet is plainly the higlight in the property’s bedroom

The Knightsbridge office of Hamptons are indeed honest in describing the £595,000 904 square foot basement flat as being “completely unmodernised” but we are surprised they didn’t ask the sellers to get in Rentokil prior to the visit of their photographer.

Images of the property show amongst other things discarded paperwork, cutlery, a single shoe, a computer monitor and dirty bed sheets. Surely Hamptons would have been doing more of a service to their client if they’d instead just opted to share a picture of the exterior.
