Former home of Take That’s Mark Owen for sale
In 1996, at the age of just 24, Mark Owen paid £300,000 for Leck Hill House, near Kirkby Lonsdale on the borders of Lancashire and Cumbria. At the time, The Mirror described how he’d “fallen in love” with the house and we can see why.
Written up as being “splendid in every way” by selling agents Davis & Bowring, this Georgian country house has been cleverly adapted for modern day living by the current owners and as a result the price for the 6.66-acre property has risen to some £1,800,000.
Grade II listed Leck Hill House now features six bedrooms and four bathrooms and of the five reception rooms, the vast living-dining-kitchen is indeed the most impressive. There is also a four-car garage and a range of outbuildings including a large field barn that could be adapted for a variety of uses. In total, the property extends to some 7,176.5 square foot in total.
Unusually, the sale incudes a variety of extras and amongst those thrown in are not only a four oven AGA with a two oven AGA electric cooker and gas hob, but also two Miele dishwashers, a steam oven and a knife drawer complete with a full set of Global knives. Carpets, two SKY television systems, a Bang & Olufsen stereo system and a 66” Bang & Olufsen television, bespoke gardening equipment – including rather bizarrely scaffolding on rollers – complete the set. If we were Mark Owen, we’d most definitely put in a bid.
