Land Rover to launch Range Rover for the super-rich
Land Rover have revealed they are considering a limited-run Range Rover costing in excess of £200,000 to compete with the forthcoming Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan 4×4 models.
In comments to Autocar’s Hilton Holloway at the launch of Range Rover’s £148,000 SVAutobiography model, Land Rover’s director of Special Vehicle Operations, Paul Newsome, commented:
“I can see something that would sit above the existing Range Rover model. It would have to have a unique style and different looks [to the current Range Rover]”.
“You could imagine a car with aluminium [body] panels which would be hand-finished and hand-matched. Something that potential buyers could watch being made”.
If the project goes ahead The Queen, for one, will be left in a quandary. She is expected to take delivery of the first Bentayga for use on her Balmoral estate but given her love for the Land Rover brand, maybe she’ll have a change of heart.
