Anne Sacoolas should not be able to evade justice simply because she is married to a US diplomat; she should be brought back to Britain immediately argues Matthew Steeples
American diplomat’s wife Anne Sacoolas (nee Goodwin), 42, crashed her car on the wrong side of the road at Park End, Croughton, Northamptonshire and killed a 19-year-old British motorcyclist, Harry Dunn, on 27th August 2019. He was described later by police as “riding perfectly safely on his own side of the road.”
Likely Mrs Sacoolas did not mean to cause a fatality whilst driving in her Volvo XC90 with her 12-year-old son and she should be credited for “admitting liability after getting out of her car,” but that this woman then fled the United Kingdom citing the”waiver of immunity” is a disgrace.
Plainly wealthy, a registered Republican and the owner of a £626,000 ($770,000, €701,000 or درهم2.8 million) home in Vienna, Fairfax, Virginia, South Carolina born Sacoolas has previous form “for failure to pay full time and attention, a traffic ticket” in 2006. A graduate of South Aiken High School and the University of South Carolina, Sacoolas has a degree in psychology but plainly has decided to ignore the impact she has place on the family of Harry Dunn by running away and not taking responsibility for her irresponsible actions.
No one, whoever they are, should be above the law and now Harry Dunn’s family have started a GoFundMe page, ‘Justice 4 Harry,’ where they seek to “get the law changed so people can’t kill and go away.”
We urge our readers to support it and we join those demanding Anne Sacoolas returns to face justice.
