Julian Assange’s latest attempt to manipulate the media backfires
On Tuesday, Julian Assange defiantly stood on the balcony of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London as he showed the American scholar and activist Noam Chomsky the view of the police operation outside. In posing for yet another cheap publicity shot and sticking his fingers up again at the justice system, all this arrogant man actually achieved was to show himself for what he truly is.
Over three months ago, Assange announced he’d be saying goodbye to his Ecuadorian refuge “soon” but obviously that, just like Tuesday’s balcony appearance, was an example of his desperation to keep his name in the media. Any excuse will do and that this individual hasn’t the courage to face the perfectly reasonable justice systems of Britain and Sweden about says it all.
As 2015 grows ever nearer, Julian Assange should realise that people are bored with his posturing. Few in the media bothered to report on Tuesday’s photoshoot and now it is time for something simple to happen: Julian Assange needs to hand himself in.
