This week’s cover of OK! magazine illustrates what is wrong about Britain
Britain is a country that can be credited with having been responsible for amongst other things penicillin, television, commercial jets, electric light, a global language, cricket, tennis, rugby, Shakespeare, parliamentary democracy and the Internet. With so much to celebrate, what did OK! magazine choose to feature on their cover this week?
At a time when decent folk are remembering those who steadfastly defended the free world in the Great War of 1914 – 1918, OK! instead opted to publish a giant photograph of a pregnant Katie Price accompanied by the captions:
“Pregnant Katie Price on taking back her cheating husband Kieran”.
“Exclusive interview and pictures at home with Jett days before she’s due”.
“Kieran and I are taking it day by day”.
“He broke down – I found him curled up in the shower crying”.
“If I didn’t have Jett and I wasn’t pregnant then I would have kicked him out”.
Alongside this not so important news, OK! also shared images of Kerry Katona and her “public meltdown” of a fiancée, a pair named Kimberly and Steven who are supposedly on Big Brother and a “heartbroken” “star” named Danielle Lloyd.
This sad indictment of all that is wrong about British society is far from OK. Shame on this silly title.
