Image of flooded Lancashire field complete with sign advertising it as a development site for 39 homes illustrates the perils of building on flood plains
Already shared on social media by over 20,000 people, our Picture of the Week shows a flooded field on the A59 at Whalley Arches in Lancashire. In it, aside from a lot of water, is a sign. It reads: “Development site with permission for 39 dwellings”.
Another photograph of the same field published earlier this year by Google shows it without a drop of water but still with the same sign. It illustrates the perils of building on flood plains and it provides indication that planning officials plainly need to take more care in their decisions.
