Mike Read’s UKIP Calypso song has rightly been withdrawn
Though the former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read has requested that his UKIP Calypso song be withdrawn from sale, the mere fact that it was ever released speaks volumes as to what he and UKIP really stand for.
Sung in a mock Caribbean accent, the song is full of ranting references to immigrants and even ridiculously suggests that Nigel Farage could find himself in Downing Street one day. It mocks David Cameron, George Osborne and Jean-Claude Juncker and features lines such as: “With the EU we must be on our mettle/Want to change our lawnmowers and our kettles”.
Mike Read has brought disgrace upon himself by singing this stupid song and that UKIP were so keen to promote it shows this party for what it truly is: A bunch of bigoted buffoons.
