Ed Stone recreated in the grounds of Carphone Warehouse founder’s Leicestershire estate

 

Featured on Tuesday in SunNation and shared on Facebook by the paper’s new Westminster correspondent Harry Cole, the “notorious Ed Stone” is, it seems, alive and well. The £30,000 tablet, commissioned by Ed Miliband prior to his trouncing at the General Election, is now standing in the grounds of Nevill Holt Hall in Leicestershire – the home of David Ross, a Conservative donor and a co-founder of Carphone Warehouse.

All, however, is not what it seems with the statue – Ross’ version is actually a replica but of it, a spokesman told SunNation: “It’s part of his private art collection”. Ed Miliband’s original version, however – despite a bid of £100,000 for it from Lord Ashcroft – remains shrouded in mystery and has yet to surface.
