The Baloney of Brexit

Section:

Summing up Britain beginning its road to Brexit and an amusing take on the Prime Minister’s letter to Donald Tusk

Yesterday, Theresa May found her date with destiny and triggered Article 50. With no more restrictions on bendy bananas (a total myth) and the start of a long goodbye, Britain reached a “historic moment” from which there can be – as the shoe loving Prime Minister herself put it – “no turning back”.

As Sky News suggested 56% of those they polled were happy with what is about to occur, Mrs May met with her cabinet in Downing Street. Bumbling Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson was the last to arrive at the gathering and the first to leave and later the well-known CV exaggerator turned Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Andrea Leadsom announced she was “very happy” with what had been discussed.

May was unsurprisingly subsequently heckled in Parliament when she announced: “We know we will lose influence… The world needs the liberal, democratic values of Europe” and was met with disdain from Lord Heseltine also. He commented:

“The letter represents the biggest sacrifice of British sovereignty that I can remember… All the stuff about gaining sovereignty will be exposed for the hypocrisy that it was… It is the biggest sacrifice of self-interest I know of”.

Whilst the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker remarked of the biggest victory for nationalism since the Second World War: “I’m deeply sad”, we’ll leave the final word with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. He added: “Thank you and goodbye”.

An amusing take on Theresa May’s letter, shared widely on social media, to Donald Tusk follows:

  1. Though the letter you share is funny, what is about to happen most certainly is not. I am very sad that the United Kingdom is now on the road to split into separate countries. The Little Englanders like Julie Randall (she seems to have stopped commenting here) have won.

    • Funny? Unfunny I would say!

I assume it was created by someone at the BBC. Several times a day they misrepresent the truth about BREXIT. I did not vote in favour of leaving because of immigration OR free movement of people(s) BUT because of the control-freak bureaucrats etc. with their snouts in the trough in Brussels and Strasbourg.
I am surprised that today Steeples appears to want the swamp of Westminster drained but is blind to the ocean of **** that is the EU

    • Oh, for goodness sake, Fiona
It’s a great day. I write this from my little place in the Lot. Here, the in the SW of France Le Pen is everywhere.
Ordinary French are fed to the back teeth with the EU and would like to follow us.
The Union was always a bit of a nonsence.
If the Scots and N. Irish want to go it alone then let them. They are of no use to us English.

  2. Theresa May has MADE GREAT BRITAIN GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Celebrate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant work Mrs May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the coolest, bestest Prime Minister in British history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring Brexit on and pull up the drawbridge!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don’t let the boats of leeches into Australia and now you can send yours back too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for water cannons and FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Nigel Farage is now working with those in America trying to split California in two in order to get two Republicans out of the hicksville bit inland. We are very angry with you Britain as now he’s wrecked your country, he’s being allowed to start wrecking our beautiful land. Please take him back. We don’t want him here.

  4. I cried when I watched the news last night. I cried for the immigrant workers, I cried for the farmers and I cried for the factory workers. Jobs will be going and already Lloyds has announced it is moving much of its operations to Brussels and away from London. I will no doubt cry a lot more.

  5. A very sad day. Ironic that those who voted for Leave will be most affected, i.e. working class. They haven’t got a clue what is going to hit them.
This referendum has been driven by very selfish voting, particularly by the 65+. They have prospered economically with the UK as part of the EU over the last 40 years and now, they want out, and leaving their children with a bleaker future. The days of Rule Britannia are long over…
