That the new leader of UKIP is prepared to be photographed with a far-right thug is anything but acceptable
Today, the Mail Online featured an image of UKIP’s new leader, Paul Nuttall, with his arm around the shoulder of a far-right EDL supporter named Andrew Edge.
Edge, a man previously snapped with Nigel Farage on several occasions, describes himself as a campaign manager for UKIP on his Facebook page and also has previously posed for a picture (complete with a UKIP “We want our country back, Vote to Leave” banner) next to the graves of the East End villains Ronald and Reginald Kray.
Whilst Nuttall and others shrug this off as “hard-right trolling and nothing to do with us”, this is indicative of where Britain now is. Post-Brexit and with the rise of Donald Trump in America, racism and bigotry have found their moment once again. We must stand firm and we must all stand against this.
