Featured by The Independent last week, Donotpay.co.uk proved so popular that it crashed in the days after its launch. This website offers motorists twelve options to generate customised appeals against parking tickets and takes less than a minute to complete.
The creation of Joshua Browder, an 18-year old student from north London, Donotpay.co.uk is free to use and is described as offering users “the best possible chance for motorists to win their appeals” and a reaction to councils’ “ticket first and ask questions later” approach. It was built after Browder spent countless hours scanning thousands of pages of documents released by a Freedom of Information request with the help of a leading traffic lawyer who “fine-tuned legal complexities”.
Motorists everywhere will no doubt salute Mr Browder. He moves to California to study at Stanford University and is definitely one to watch. A Mark Zuckerberg in the making?
