Solihull born and a former bank clerk, big-haired Baroness Pidding became engulfed in the ‘Tatler Tory’ scandal in November 2015. Described by Lord Ashcroft as the sort “not afraid to get her hands dirty” and a lookalike of the Coronation Street character Bet Lynch, Pidding lives in a £3 million house in Buckinghamshire and told The Mail on Sunday: “In 30 years as a volunteer for the Conservative Party I have never done anything blameworthy or underhand”. The family of the late Conservative activist Elliott Johnson, given their calls for her to be quizzed by police, plainly feel to the contrary.
