The Tout’s tips for the 1000 and 2000 Guineas and the Betfred Dante Stakes
The three-year old colts and fillies have their chance to get their seasons underway in these two very special classic races on Saturday and Sunday at Newmarket on the course that is known as The Rowley Mile and only used in the spring and the autumn. The track is forbidding as it is a straight stiff mile and for many of these horses it is their first run of what could be a busy, demanding and top class schedule.
We are really going on last year’s form in most cases but some have run this year so are a little more match fit. The Tout is going on information that he has been privy to over the past few months and for this reason our main selections are for The 1000 Guineas and here our main selection is Fadhayil at 8/1 to give Barry Hills a classic winner in his final season training. Of the others we go for trial winner Osaila who never runs a bad race and is also available at 8/1. The Tout will have a smug smile if Fadhayil scores on Sunday at 3.40pm as he took 16/1 on this filly six weeks ago.
The 2000 Guineas looks wide open this year and it is hard to nail a selection but we are going to avoid the favourite, Gleneagles, and go with Territories trained by Andre Fabre at 6/1.
Looking ahead to the Betfred Dante Stakes at York on 14th May, The Tout recommends an investment in Jack Hobbs, last week’s winner at Sandown and available at 10/1, trained by the mighty John Gosden and partnered by our very own Frankie Dettori. Happy days as flat racing is back in full swing.
