The Tout shares his tips for the 2015 Crabbie’s Grand National and a photo montage of the most ‘classy’ racegoers seen already at Aintree this week
This is the race that seems to capture the attention of a nation. Everyone has a bet and it puts them off gambling for another year as they watch their selection crash out at one of the massive obstacles. The Grand National at Aintree is a fantastic spectacle but The Tout considers it the most nonsensical event to have a wager in. Two flies going up a wall have a better chance of finishing.
What the racing world is praying for is an AP McCoy victory on Shutthefrontdoor at 7/1 for his owner JP McManus. AP has said that if this horse wins he will retire immediately rather than at the end of the season and he would dearly love to do this for JP himself. After almost 4,300 winners and a crushed body the man has given more to this sport than any other rider before him.
The Tout suggests a trip to the races just to check out the Scouse Wonders, electronic tags and hair extensions that will be on display but if you have to wager we suggest the following other than the already mentioned favourite: In order of price, The Druids Nephew at 12/1, Many Clouds at 25/1 and The Package at 33/1. In reality there is a desperation that the dream may come true for AP and JP.
