JD Wetherspoon’s should be punished for spending nearly £100,000 on pro-Brexit beer mats at the behest of Tim Martin
Tim Martin is an odious man and he’s also highly irritating. That is for sure, but that he spent £94,856 of his company’s money on nearly two million beer mats sums up how ridiculous this nutjob truly is.
According to The Guardian, JD Wetherspoon “has been accused of breaching the Companies Act after failing to seek shareholder approval for [the constituted political expenditure] spending” and whilst Martin owns 32% of the company, the remainder is owned by pension funds whom are now objecting to him “using his pub-chain as a platform for his views.”
Martin’s beer mats – which “took aim” at Sir Vince Cable, George Osborne and Christine Lagarde amongst others – about sum up all that is wrong with the downbeat pub chain that is JD Wetherspoon. Today, as a result, we urge all our readers to boycott their frankly ghastly premises.
