President George H. W. Bush’s model and designer turned philanthropist granddaughter became “Lauren Lauren” when she married David Lauren, son of Ralph Lauren, in 2011. The union was described as the merger of two families who are “public but private” and of why she named her own fashion label “Lauren Pierce”, Princeton educated Bush Lauren commented: “Obviously my last name is associated with politics. But Pierce is my grandmother’s maiden name and my younger brother’s name. It’s not about downplaying my last name as much as it is about loving Pierce. And my brother is very flattered”. It’s most definitely all in the name.

What an inspiring and delightful young lady. The world needs more like her.
Matthew: Thank you for sharing information about this delightful young lady. I came across her in New York at a fundraiser and I must say for someone so young, she’s got her priorities sorted perfectly. If only others of her age were so dedicated to helping others.
I don’t want to appear snide, but everybody seems to self describe or be described as a ‘philanthropist’ these days.
Now I give a little money to charity does entitle me to describe myself as one?
The other thing that perplexed me was that the Bush and Lauren families describe themselves as ‘public but private’…only Americans could come up with that confection!
Still, Lauren has done well. From working class Jewish Brooklyn to an alliance with the Bush family….only in the US of A!
It is very fortunate that Ralphie changed his name to Lauren from Lifshitz
I don’t think that the Bush family would have liked their daughter being called Lauren Lifshitz…….
My late father was also a philanthropist, but it was based on the instructions and recommendations from his very able accountant. There is a method to the madness of the very wealthy. Another Hymietown success. The Reverent Jesse Jackson must be fuming with rage and hate. It is acceptable for him to spread anti Semitism.
