The Steeple Times asks professional polo player Peter Webb: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

Honesty.

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Reality television.

Health.

Donald Trump was once a case of: “If you owe the bank a thousand, they close you down; but if you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank”. What’s your view on the banking crisis?

Banks should only loan to people who can repay appropriately.

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

“At the end of the day”.

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

I try and teach my children about the good work charities do. I support the Macmillan nurses.

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

I spend too much time on mine.

My wife, friends and family, David Attenborough and the Travelling Wilburys.

Steak and chips with pepper sauce. I’d have it on the first space flight out of there.

What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

On holiday I’d say anytime. Generally, probably after midday.

A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

Probably a cup of tea as I don’t drink cocktails.

The spontaneous ones which aren’t planned with family and friends.

My father.

What’s your most guilty pleasure?

Vanilla ice cream.

If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

Probably something to do with animals.

If you were a car, what marque would you be?

An Aston Martin DB5.

Cilla Black presented Surprise, Surprise. Tell us the most surprising thing about you.

I’m quite superstitious.

What’s currently sitting on your mantelpiece?

A metal bucket to keep my keys in as I’m always losing them.
