Bonnie Tyler (born Gaynor Hopkins, also known as Sherene Davis)

by Matthew Steeples

Britain’s answer to Celine Dion. One of Tyler’s singles, Believe In Me, was chosen as Britain’s 2013 Eurovision Song Contest entry in 2013. In it, she sings: “It’s just not worth the pain”. This more than amply bosomed Botox loving Welsh woman is quite right. Her song is beyond painful.

Stephen Bowman: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

by Matthew Steeples

The Steeple Times asks bass-baritone singer Stephen Bowman: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”   The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force? Gravity mainly, followed by a healthy fear of dying young. Avoiding skydiving tends to keep both of those fears at bay.   “Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble … Continue reading “Stephen Bowman: “What’s on your mantelpiece?””

This supposed “First Lady of Comedy” spouts lines like: “He had a bull name Floyd, but he was unemployed.” How long did it take her to come up with that? Her appearances on Radio 4 and elsewhere are peppered with references to “blummin’ people” and how she’s “stuck all [she] can stick.” Could someone please … Continue reading “Pam Ayres MBE”

Céline Dion CC OQ

by Matthew Steeples

Dion met her husband and manager, René Angélil, when she was 12. Her rise has been meteoric and she’s now one of the richest women in showbiz. Whether she’s “Falling into You” or “Taking Chances,” however, there’s just something utterly irritating about her demeanour. Please could someone send in an iceberg? This Titanic of a … Continue reading “Céline Dion CC OQ”
