John Bercow shames himself again in claiming £1,200 to attend a funeral
John Bercow and his blabbermouth wife are known for their grasping ways but in charging £1,215.60 to attend the funeral of the late Paul Goggins MP, the House of Commons Speaker has gone too far.
Accompanied by two members of staff, Bercow travelled from London to Manchester and charged the taxpayer for travel for himself and two others and overnight accommodation. Amazingly he somehow even managed to bill £112.50 – yes £112.50 – for a 4.5 mile journey between the Houses of Parliament in Westminster and Euston railway station.
Since May 2010, Bercow, it has been revealed has racked up over £96,000 in travel and accommodation expenses including £16,000 on chauffeur driven car travel.
Isn’t it time this shameful grabber got himself an Oyster Card?

He is a loathsome little runt and clearly the ‘cab’ fares are obscene and quite unnecessarily extravagant. I believe he also had some very expensive cars in Manchester.
An Addison Lee car to/from Euston would have cost no more than about £15 each way. However, I don’t think he should have to travel by bus or tube – apart from anything else, the temptation to push him in front of a tube train would be too great.
