The deafening silence from the Animal cruelty campaigners is rather peculiar, I suppose it is all pukka, as long as we don’t over feed the poor animals. For over 40 years Mary Whitehouse kept up her fight against BBC policy makers, politicians, Pop Stars, Celebrity Culture who she felt was dragging British culture into a sewer of blasphemy and obscenity. Poor Mary was held in contempt by Britain’s intellectual elite. From a Liberal perspective it must be very uncomfortable how many things she was actually right about.
