The lack of reporting on the real reasons for the ever so brief rise and ever so quick fall of Chuka Umunna MP is telling
The nation used to be able to rely on the News of the World for its weekly fix of exposes about the exploits of its greats and not so greats and it was with firmly baited breath that many waited for this morning’s headlines about the real reason why Chuka Umunna “chucked” in his campaign to become Labour leader just days after declaring himself a candidate. The hour came and with it, just one story emerged: Mr Umunna likes to drink at a members’ only “boys playground” behind The Bank of England named the M Den.
Having witnessed veteran sage and broadcaster Andrew Neil tweet: “Is there some Sunday tabloid story about Chuka Umunna in the works?” on Thursday, most were expecting a salacious scandal to be behind Umunna’s decision. In reality, either Neil got it wrong or the British press simply opted to leave Umunna be. Whatever the truth, this headline-less episode provides yet another example of how the British press have been reigned in post-Leveson and frankly illustrates nothing other than what a boring place Britain is as a result.

Oddly’ my brother – not the ‘ gay ‘ one – was friendly with the assistant governor of Cardiff Prison, who was having an affair with the female governor ……..the news was going to be revealed in ‘ The News of the screws ‘ on a particular Sunday……my brother enquired whether or not his pal had a fall back position…….’ Yes perhaps the Queen Mother could die ‘ was his rather half hearted attempt at gallows humour
As per normal, money or friends will stop any expose on why he has “decided” not to run! .. I think it strange someone would announce they are running only to drop out with no reason! You can bet someone has something on him and this is why he has dropped out!
Maybe it’s as simple as he should never have been considered!
