The real star of the official state banquet for the Chinese president Xi Jinping was the Duchess of Cambridge
Described as the “Dazzling Duchess” and the “Pride of the Palace” in today’s Mail Online, the Duchess of Cornwall looked resplendent in red at Tuesday night’s official state banquet for the Chinese president Xi Jinping at Buckingham Palace.
Whilst most of the media have focused of the decision of the Prince of Wales not to attend and Jeremy Corbyn’s lack of respect for potocol, the Duchess of Cambridge did the decent thing: She clinked glasses with a man whose country will invest billions in Britain and she smiled politely. She put aside questions about China’s record in many sectors and in doing so, this middle class lady who one day will be Queen did what she does best: The Duchess of Cambridge rose to the occasion and for that the nation should salute her.

Perhaps Harry has already taught her the art of ganbeing……..
Well said, Matthew!
And doesent she look the perfect picture of the future Queen of England.
Absolutely beautiful……….
Thomas Eaves is, alas, indicative of a lot of Englishmen who wonder why so many Scots voted for independence. The last Queen of England died in 1603. England and Great Britain are not interchangeable names. Treat Scots (not to mention the Welsh) with contempt if you like, but be prepared for the consequences.
The Scots, Welsh and Irish are like the Muslims….always worried they are being slighted
Good to see Lady Mary from ‘Down Abbey’ out & about. But where is Kate?
er… ‘Downton Abbey’. And that’s the gag ruined!
Sorry, Margaret, I stand corrected, …….Monarch….
How do you know, by the way that I am English….. and, assuming you are Scottish, why are the Scots always so quick to point out errors which they feel demean Scotland…..
I’m sure Kate was not offended by my statement.
So sorry to see you knocked out of the Rugby by Australia, my commiserations……
Kate Middleton descends from the Fairfax family of Yorkshire: a once powerful and ancient family.
In her descent she has nothing to be ashamed of. She is settling into her role with grace and panache.
Thank goodness we have some good English blood now running through the royal veins.
