Continuing our look at the lots in the forthcoming Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show sale, we highlight a 1966 Lotus Elan S2 originally owned by Peter Sellers
Delivered new to Peter Sellers in July 1966 at his home in Panton Street, off Haymarket in London, a Lotus Elan S2 that the actor and comedian owned is to be sold at the 14th and 15th November Silverstone Auctions’ NEC Classic Motor Show sale.
Priced with a guide of £45,000 to £50,000, the four owner car has covered an unverified 65,611 miles and has been in dry storage since 2005. Its condition is described as being a “little tired” but, as the auction house points out: “Whether this little white Elan interests you as a motoring project or a piece of movie memorabilia, please come and talk to us”.

Maurice blew up two race engines in practise, failed to enter; so the engine was fine
My pal couldn’t get finance or insurance on the D type; so he bought a new Elan………
Charlie Sgonina – a famous local two wheel flyer – drove a DBR 1 ( about twenty millon these days ) on the road and in local sprints
I bet other of Matthew’s contributors have better sob stories, but I won.t bet much
