Image of people queuing outside Harrods on Boxing Day illustrates what a material world we truly live in
Christmas is meant to be about celebrating the birth of Christ but in these secular times, it is more materialistic than anything else. Our Picture of the Week – first shared by The Telegraph – shows exactly that and instead of being at home with their loved ones, it features individuals queuing outside Harrods in Knightsbridge early on Boxing Day.
Also illustrative of how cosmopolitan London has become, with a group of Chinese people at the front of the line, the determined bargain hunters are nothing new. Still, though, one has to ask: “Do they really need whatever they’re after?” at a time when there are thousands living in poverty and on the streets of this very same city.

They are indeed like sheep… Sheep, however, with money to burn.
I saw an even worst line outside Harvey Nichols a few weeks ago, young people camped outside all night to be the first to grab some fancy sneakers that were being launched the next day.. i should have taken a pic to share, I thought it was a demonstration for anti fur or anti capitalism but when I asked i understood it was quite the opposite, and the shoes were neither a bargain or on seasonal reduction!
Harrods is a rip off even on sales anyway, so yes one wonders what those greedy shoppers are after.
Whatever floats your boat….
