Jack Hine suggests: “We are a multi-national country, get used to it”
We are all immigrants: The original inhabitants of ‘England’ are long gone and distributed throughout Wales, Brittany and beyond.
This country needs immigrants and their skills and efforts should be welcomed. Instead, new immigrants are insecure because of Brexit and the possibility of deportation. They’re attacked in the streets and termed by the Daily Mail as “spongers” and “liggers”.
As there has been a decline in unemployment, it doesn’t appear that these people have taken the jobs of UK born Brits and if the country is to grow (and grow it must), we need immigrants. With a controlled policy, as occurs in Australia and Switzerland, this works well and it is anything but for the bad of native citizens.
Do the people who demonstrate against foreigners coming here and support Brexit not realise the potential for growth is best served by remaining in Europe and migration? They ignore the numbers and simply rant about “getting our country back”. They’re nothing but clueless.
It’s quite simple: Draw a graph of GDP, with or without Brexit, and then calculate the financial contributions brought in by skilled working immigrants now and in the future. You’ll not be surprised by the result.
This country cannot be saved by turning the clock back to Victorian Britain and an empire we no longer have. Equally, Theresa May’s talk of easily renegotiating trade deals, I must say, are nothing but pie in the sky!
I love Britain but why do we have to be so obstinate by encouraging its downfall? Patriotic? I think not.

He is quite right! Deport Nigel Farage instead! Donald Trump is welcome to him!

Don’t be an imbecile
Kick ’em all out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disgusting that you tolerate such nonsense in the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have none of this in Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give it time?!
I totally agree with this article.
You really do publish total cr*p in this paper now. Very disappointed. Why don’t you let UKIP members contribute? I bet you won’t even publish my comment. We want our country back, we won, you lost, get over it. Get the immigrants gone. Let’s reclaim Britain.
We have regularly offered UKIP supporters and others the opportunity to contribute to our pages. We have even interviewed Neil Hamilton and several articles published here have come from those pro that kind of opinion. It seems, most, like you, just moan rather than contribute anything positive.
Great Britain will be kicked from the commonwealth countries next just like the country got kicked from the EU.
“The original inhabitants of England are long gone”?
What a naively idiotic statement to make.
Go to most counties of England and you find the overwhelming element of the population have English names and bloodlines going back, in many cases, to pre-Norman times.
Trying telling the Japanese that they are all immigrants; they will think you either mad or stupid. And, that applies to most countries.
Anyone with half a brain knows that unfettered immigration is a recipe for social unrest: hence the reason why most intelligent countries are strict about who they wish to settle in their country.
I know that Matthew doesn’t pay people to write articles, but at least try to try find a writer who can at least write with a degree of coherence.
This ‘article’ would shame some graduate from the University of Chelmsford.
In fact, I embarrassed myself by wasting time reading it.
I love Miss Coyne’s comment. She sounds a real airhead!
And the author is so mixed up he cannot even decide whether he is a ‘Jack’ or a ‘Peter’. Hine, stick to dealing in souvenirs!
and bits of memorabilia
That was my mistake in editing, not Jack’s. Apologies for the confusion.
