Small country house in Derbyshire that has been in the same family since it was built for sale for £2.5 million

Owned by the same family since it was built in 1840 and occupied by them since the 1930s, Nether Hall at Hathersage in Derbyshire is to be sold for the first time ever with a guide price of £2.5 million ($3.2 million, €2.8 million or درهم11.9 million) through agents Savills.

The 9,301 square foot “small country house” on offer has been Grade II listed since 1985 and comes with 54.99 acres of land. It is currently home to businessman Michael Shuttleworth and his artist wife Lizzie and is built of coursed gritstone with ashlar dressings, coped gables and a slate roof. It includes 5 reception rooms, 7 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as presently configured and comes with a gate lodge let on a protected tenancy and a 2-bedroom barn conversion.

Aside from additional outbuildings, the estate also includes 605 metres of fishing rights on Hood Brook, a walled kitchen garden, a grass tennis court and let farmland. A clause is being applied on the uplift in value in the event of any planning permission being granted within 25 years of the date of the completion of any sale.

  1. Knock the f***ing dump down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is hideous and ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don’t they have double beds?????????? WTF???????? Why no KING SIZED f***ing beds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! S**thole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F***ing dump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • And you, Rod, are twice as ugly of a person as you claim the house to be. Your disgusting combination of ignorance and belligerence is shiny brightly. I am Aussie your mother is so proud. To use an expression I learned from a British woman, “you are a huge dickwad!!!”

      • Sorry, I meant your “mother” not Aussie. Dn’t know where that came from. I am sure you got my point.

    • Obviously you don’t admire historical homes/buildings. That’s alright, not everyone does, but those of us who do and are on this site, don’t need to read your nasty comments. This is a lovely home. Tip of the day * king size beds were not a thing of the past. Perhaps you are too young to realize that. We forgive you.

  2. Please delete those ignorant comments about this beautiful house..It is a statement in beauty and history…why do people have to comment with such nasty and disgusting words….they don’t have to live there..but someone else does…respect them…

  3. It looks to be a lovely house very nicely maintained. Rod can bring his own large bed but the house seems to have great integrity and the garden is on beautiful sloping ground.

  4. Charming, lovely home. Everything is warm, human, inviting, and nourishing. If we had the money, we would buy it without a second thought.

  5. It is a shame that it doesn’t have more land but I guess the owners are keeping a lot. Perhaps a buyer could negotiate a bigger parcel with them.

  6. It’s beautiful! Certainly glad Rod doesn’t have the money to purchase it and destroy it. Clearly Rob isn’t one of class or the sophistication that generally go with beautifully constructed older mansions.
From your language Rob it sounds like you were raised in the backwoods and are living in a single wide trailer on wheels.

  7. Beautiful and harmonious looking place. (Perhaps Rod could try “Spec-savers” and/or medication in this case…….?!)

  8. I would choose something Georgian myself any day but this place has its merits. It is beautifully set and with a bit of a makeover will be a very fine home for a family.

  9. I hope this magnificent home will be sold to the rightfull family that will preserve its tradition! England is known for its beautiful mansion homes and its history!
